Description
The Rattle Kachina appears as a runner Kachina during the spring dances to race against the men of the village. During the race the Kachina will usually give his a opponent a lead then takes off after them, if he catches his opponent the Rattle Kachina will punish him, usually by whipping him with yucca whips. but if a person were to beat the Rattle Kachina in his race, a prize of some sort is given as a reward. The Rattle Kachina doll has a dome like head with a feather on top, and will usually have one or more yucca whips in his hands along with a rattle.
